Building a community is more than just the number of followers you have on Twitter or the number of Fans on Facebook, and it is more than mastering Social Media. This is an article I wrote for the most recent Holistic Magazine for NJ – Fall Edition.  I hope you enjoy it, in anticipation for the hustle and bustle of the next few months!

Creating Positive Momentum to Manifest Amazing Results through Fall 2009

Fall is also a busy time for most of us – kids going back to school; ramping our business up for an amazing year end finale; and then holidays looming!  Its also a time where some of us struggle to create a natural balance while doing all these things.

Now is the time to nurture yourself . And here is why…to keep the energy flowing smoothly – moving forward while feeling a sense of balance and groundedness in accomplishing all you’re setting out to do. And avoiding overwhelm, confusion, or getting stuck in all the busy-ness.  How do we do that?

Curiosity creates connection!

Here are a few pointers to get you started:

1) Set time aside for yourself everyday (start with 15mins if that request feels big). Re-connect with yourself, doing something you love eg: meditation, a walk in the woods or beach, listening to music.  This will give your mind and body a chance to rejuvenate and feel re-energised.  That inner connection is key to achieve this.

2) Make sure you are getting the support and encouragement you need from those around you.  Look at who is helping you in your business or at home.   Let go of the tasks that you hate, that get you stuck, to keep the momentum flowing.  That means considering outsourcing to help you, or asking for help.  Yes…ASK FOR HELP.  I encourage you to stretch yourself, if this is a difficult one for you.  Single out the naysayers, the energy-suckers and ask them for their support, or limit your time around them. Don’t forget their negativity will have a direct impact on your momentum and level of success – if you let it

3) Make sure you have a plan or routine that works for you. Identify the time of the day you operate best in. Set specific time aside to do the things that are important. The universe abhors a vacuum, so creating the space to work on a specific task by setting clear intentions,  is going to create a much higher likelihood of success!

4) Recognise and acknowledge your self for all the wonderful big and small accomplishments you are having along the way. We are great at beating ourselves up for what we haven’t done, so turn it on its head and keep the positive energy flowing, preventing you from getting stopped.

Just take these few steps and you will make a huge difference to the results in your life  & business.

I was invited to have conversation with Karen Swim & Trish Lambert on SwimBert Radio this morning – where we had a wonderful conversation about small business over coffee!  Just the way I like to do radio – thats what its all about – conversation!  Anyway it was the perfect reminder to let everyone know about this wonderful program for soul-driven solo-preneurs – assisting them in ending 2009 magnificently – thats starting on the 29th September,  you can see the details, by clicking on the tab at the top of the page – and of course you can now listen to the recording of Trish & Karen’s show, to hear about it too!     They are awesome solo-preneurs those two! and in fact I’ve had Trish on my show in Feb 09 during coaching month, which was very informative!  Thanks gals, for a great chat!  I hoped all you entrepeneurs out there enjoyed it too!

On another note of endings, and new beginnings… wasn’t the tennis amazing yesterday! Both players were wonderful, and seeing Kim Clujster’s little girl on the court with the trophy was so heartwarming, I had a little cry! Ok I know, maybe thats over the top, but I’ll cry if I want to – its my party! lol   Its wonderful to see the hierarchy of the tennis world shifting, and seeing some amazing players come through.  I won’t even mention Serena William’s appalling behaviour….  And I’m looking forward to seeing the men’s final today!    So what coaching tips can we glean from the experiences we’ve seen play-out over the last couple of days.   Well, certainly, what you focus on expands… beware Serena, and hello Kim!  Humility & love for the sport and people says it all when these talented players move forward with their careers and the relationship with the crowd.

Wow, the weather has been awesome! Well it has in New Jersey!  I hope it has for you!  A few thunderstorms (one took out one of my Facebook Webinars! lol) but its been great!  Our veggie community garden is growing like crazy and we have been eating beautiful stripey tomatoes, thai aubergines, and canteloupe melons to name a few.  It is amazing how satisfying it is eating vegetables that taste good, that have come from your own toiling of the soil!  And oh the abundance of it! Very satisfying indeed.

Now what I really wanted to share with you was an amazing and very touching experience I had with my husband on Wednesday night, when we went to Count Basie to watch John Legend, and India.Arie.  What a treat the evening was, both amazing artists, and in such a beautiful setting too.  (I love the Count Basie theatre, and it looks amazing after its makeover!)    To my surprise, India.Arie, came on the stage, started singing and then left the stage a couple of phrases into the song – noone really knew what was going on.   She was gone a while, and her band did an amazing job singing and continuing to entertain us, while we waited in consternation. (they were actually excellent in their own right!)  After a while India came back on the stage, and shared something very touching.  You could see she had been crying, and she shared with us that she had watched a documentary on Joni Mitchell the night before who was one of her role models, and how it reminded her of why she loved her, that she stayed away from the commercialism of the music industry and really stuck to doing music that was close to her heart, and spoke to her soul – she felt she had strayed.  And so she did a set that was completely unplanned, she took her hair off (literally), she brought her mother on stage, and sang some beautiful and very touching melodies and words.  I shed a few tears myself. I want to honor India for her courageous, and her ability to create the awareness for herself around what’s most important to her and then own it. She really did that night.  Thank you India, you are an inspiration.

So as a coach, I was ecstatic to see someone like India who is all about living in integrity with who she is, her values, and how she wants to effect this world.  I was enraptured and enthralled. (I don’t know if I have any more words to describe it…lol)  She is an amazing role model, who really can have a huge impact on the world in a very powerful way.  One person can make a difference.  Also being out of integrity with oneself, brings about unhappiness – we all saw that on Wednesday.  Follow what truly speaks to you, and your heart.

My dear hubby and I are off to Nr Ireland and Spain tomorrow for a couple of weeks, well deserved rest – after dh having a mild stroke a couple of weeks ago, and myself with symptoms that  seem to point to  Lyme Disease  – we really are looking forward to the break.  Time with my goddaughter in Spain, one of my oldest friends (we go back 20 years!) and my aunt and uncle who are coolio!  Beach, pool, beach, pool, and sangria!

Enjoy the rest of the summer my friends, only a few weeks left!  And then I look forward to talking to you more about my upcoming GCN Group Coaching Program starting in late September.  If you would like to find out more about it now, take a look by clicking on this link.
