Own the Pioneer in YOU!

So if you’re on the frontier as a Pioneer, what does that mean to marketing in your business?  What does it mean you need to do to make sure that the world understands and knows what you’re doing,?  To be able to help them the way that you know you could, if only you had the chance?   Mmmm, lots to consider!

Here are 5 key elements, to being a Pioneer:

• Firstly it’s OWNING what gifts you have to share with world.    Yes – try that on for a moment. Pretend its a snuggly coat of OWNERSHIP of what you do so well, and wear it proudly and confidently.
• Secondly, its taking RESPONSIBILITY for this wonderful coat you’re wearing!  You have to show it off, and let the world know how wonderful ‘it’ is!
• Thirdly, its making sure that now in the OWNERSHIP of your gift, and understanding the RESPONSIBILITY that comes with it,that the world must hear about.  Shout from the rooftops if you have to.  (yes I’m sure some of you are cringing right now at the thought of that, but now isn’t it your RESPONSIBILITY to be doing that?)
• Fourthly, remind yourself that you are not filling that RESPONSIBILITY if the world doesn’t even know its there.  So what do you need to do to make sure that the world hears about it?  Sees it?  Experiences it?    Whatever intuitively fits for you is generally the answer (easily accessed when working with a coach   to choose the vehicle or platform (or ‘runway’) lol,  to evangelise what you do.  Did I just use that word? Yes I did, taking it from its pure meaning …..

• Fifthly – to take it one step further, which is to get others to evangelise about what you’re doing too!   There are lots of ways to dothis, but I just want to get the general message out there, with getting into the how-to’s here.
• BONUS key element:  Yes, it takes courage to step out there so boldly – and what would happen if you don’t?

I would love to get your input on these points, as well as hear how you are ‘owning’ your gift, and the work you need to do to get it out into the world.  Tell me how the ‘ownership coat’  or maybe its those boots  – fit as a Pioneer in your field of work.   Once you start trying on these key principles, the idea of sharing and marketing, takes on a whole new perspective!

Are you catching the successful biz worm!?

Spring is definitely in the air!  I am embracing the warmth and the beautiful bright blossoms when I’m on my walks!  It feels like a rebirth, a re-awakening…coming out of hibernation.  Its time to get inspired, feel inspired, and take action!

Its perfect timing really, without my even planning it that way. (isn’t the universe powerful the way it lines things up!?)  What am I talking about?  This week, I am facilitating a workshop, on Tuesday the 21st April at the Unitarian Church on West Front Street in Lincroft NJ (very near the GS parkway).

Planning my time...

As most of you know, I am life and small business coach!  I work from my home office, and can easily ferret myself away in there all day not coming up for breath or company!   As I love what I do, the hours can easily slip away, and before I know it, I can go 3 days without leaving the house.  (a lot of my clients get coached by phone across the country and world)  And then I realise that I have been so busy that I haven’t spent any time with the people who are important in my life – husband, my friends…  and my community!  The people who I want to be in touch with and get to know, my potential clients!   Make sure this is not happening to you!

Tip #1

Take the time to schedule in some time out for yourself during the day.    Even if you are flat out busy!  Give yourself the opportunity to nurture yourself and recharge your batteries so that you are energised and productive for the rest of the day.  Believe me you will be a lot more effective and feel a lot better.

Tip #2

Make at least 5 appointments a week to get you out of your home office or business.   1 to have lunch with a friend,  1 to have lunch or coffee with a business associate or peer in your industry,  and then if possible see 3 potential clients a week.   Take a brown bag lunch, coffee, or even a walk (wonderful if you’re a coach) with your prospective client.     This will also help you to set up your schedule around how many calls you will need to make during the week to make this happen!

Tip #3

Think about joining a networking group.  This will give you the opportunity to meet people!  And they could become potential clients and customers.   The alternative is to join a group in the niche you work in.   I belong to a Holistic Healing Alliance which has all sorts of holistic practitioners and coaches as members.   A lot of them are clients or potential clients, as well as the possibility of my becoming theirs.  We are also focussed on the prosperity and success of each other’s businesses, so we get to know each other, which results in referrals.  It works wonderfully.     

These methods will get you out there, interacting and growing your business continually at the same time.  Its also important to make that you are taking care of yourself, so taking time out of your schedule to do something just for you, will keep you mindful of whats most important.

Invisible Illness Week

week!

I am a migraineur – diagnosed with cluster headaches/ occular migraine,  and I truly do know what its like to live with chronic pain.  I also know what it is like to live with something that isn’t always visible to others, and dealing with the fallout from that.  With friends and work.   I have realised that primarily it is important to educate others (they don’t know what you’re going through)  and be kind and compassionate to yourself (it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks).  Support yourself the best way you know how – if it means saying ‘no’ to be able to ‘yes’ to yourself then that is the appropriate choice.   (I had a great interview on this subject on my radio show a couple of weeks ago with Christine Clifton, ‘Become an Energy Magnet’  -see link to show on side of page)

So I want to support and acknowledge all practitioners who support people in chronic pain – and let all of you with ‘invisible illnesses’ know how much I support and admire your courage and resolve in your lives.  Take care of yourselves.
