<p>I have a confession…</p>
<p><strong>I waited 2 whole years, before I started my list. (I’ll tell you more about this later!)</strong></p>
<p>And here&#8217;s another thing..</p>
<p>Even though you are building a personal relationship with the folks who are on your email list, only a small percentage will sign up for the offers you make. <em>The bigger the tribe of followers you have, the more impact you’ll have on your bottom line</em>. It doesn’t mean they are not excited to hear from you! It just means that they are not ready to buy from you YET.</p>
<p><strong>I want to lift the veil on all the list-building basics to support you in kick-starting your list, whether you’re starting from zero, or have a few hundred followers already</strong>.  I’ll reveal more about what the frick this all means on my upcoming call!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week I’m going on a little rant! <img src='http://keystoclarity.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I’m really inspired by my colleague Michelle Nightingale who posted recently on this topic but from a slightly different perspective.   Inspired and reminded of how important it is to do our work on a bigger scale!  It’s what I stand for!  Becoming visible means helping more people!</p>
<p>A bigger scale means taking your business online and reaching a wider audience.  Not only so they can benefit from your message, your teaching, your coaching or healing. But because you can save lives! (yes that’s where Michelle really got me!)</p>
<p>Sounds dramatic right!?  Well it’s true.  If you’re in some kind of wellness or healing profession or even as a coach, there are people searching the internet right now, who are desperate for your help.  Seriously think about it.</p>
<p>Think about where you first look, when you’re dealing with a serious health or emotional issue!   The web!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/cartoon.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-3138" title="cartoon" src="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/cartoon.jpg" alt="" width="227" height="222" /></a>Are you ready to kick some proverbial butt, no more excuses, about growing your reach. And enough of the voice inside your head, saying ‘who will listen to me’, ‘I’m not sure what value I provide’, ‘who am I to lead a community’ – I say ‘who are you not to!?’</p>
<p>Aren’t you sick of that little voice telling you a bunch of c@#p?  I am.  (can you tell!?)  Let&#8217;s at least kick that little voice&#8217;s butt!</p>
<p>If you connect to Spirit, to that inner intuition and ask those questions, I’m pretty sure of the answers it will give you.  Not that I’m omnipotent, but because it all comes from love and a place of service and humility.</p>
<p>I believe it’s your duty to put yourself out there, build your community online (as well as locally and in-person), share your expertise, and reach more people to share your gifts and talents.  No omnipotent being would want you to hide that under a bushel, if you were capable of sharing it and making a difference to even one life.</p>
<p>It’s time to step into the spotlight, and become that leader, and build that community of people hungry to hear you wisdom.    Yes sometimes that can feel scary, and really uncomfortable.  But only at first.  I promise it gets easier.  And it’s so worth it!</p>

<p>It&#8217;s where it all begins!</p>
<p><em>Wiki definition:  The <strong>cornerstone</strong> (or <strong>foundation stone</strong>) concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure.</em></p>
<p>If you&#8217;re beginning your list-building experience, great! Congratulations! You&#8217;re taking a big step to serving a much larger community, getting your message out in a much bigger way, and filling your programs and groups! And if you&#8217;ve been building your list already and have found it to be fairly non-impactful experience, there is a good chance that some fundamental piece is missing&#8230;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This week I want to share about the amazing value of Opt-In Gifts with you, as a method of sharing a deep slice of your best expertise so your potential clients get to know you, and as a way to build credibility and build your email list!  They are an essential part of your marketing online if that&#8217;s how you&#8217;d like to build your community.</p>
<p>First off, having an opt- in gift on your home page is paramount!   If you don’t have this yet, time to get on it. Better yet, have it show up on every page of your site, if it’s in the margin. Or in a pop box. Yes I hate those but in truth they do work really well!! (but I won’t be putting one on my site anytime soon!)</p>
<p>There are still a lot of coaches and healers out there who have an opt-in box, but only for a e-newsletter /ezine.  This is definitely not enough any more!!!    Folks out there are so overwhelmed by email, they will just see your newsletter as another way to jam up their email in box.</p>
<p>You want to make an offer for a gift you’ll give them, that is so juicy and compelling that they will absolutely want to give you their name and email address! You want your ideal client to be really excited by what you&#8217;re offering. <a href="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/surprise1.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-3107" title="surprise" src="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/surprise1.jpg" alt="" width="193" height="262" /></a></p>

<p>And yes the gift does need to be all that, as well as have a great title otherwise  they will just click off your site.</p>
<p>Your opt-in gift could be an email drip- series, where you send out a few tips over 5 or 7 days.  It could be a video or audio.  I prefer audio myself as I know I can download it and listen to it anytime, anywhere.</p>
<p>Here’s a quick tip on trends at the moment for great opt-in gifts and opt-in conversions. (Conversions are the percentage rate of how many folks will actually put their information in your opt-in box and click ‘gift’)&#8230;</p>
<p>Even though video is SOOO hot right now as a tool for communicating with, there are many who prefer audio and want to just download and take it with them to listen in the car or on their walk.  Also a video series gift, isn’t doing very well out there at the moment, because people often think they have to watch all the videos all at once, and of course none of us have time for that, or because of the point I made above.  If you are going to use video as a gift, make it multi-dimensional, so those who aren’t visual or don’t want to sit and watch, can either listen or read what was shared in the video.  That means include a report or audio with it.  That was a juicy tip supplied by my colleague Michele PW at her Copy-Writing Day at Wealthy Thought Leader in Vancouver!  If anyone knows what is working and what isn’t when it comes to Opt-In pages and gifts, it’s her!</p>
<p>Opt-in gifts can also be created for a special opt-in page or squeeze page, not just for your Home page.  These are often used specifically as list-builders.  (keep an eye out as I’ll be doing a special call on list-building for new soulopreneurs in a couple of weeks!)</p>
<p>If you go to an event, or speak on someone’s radio show, it’s a wonderful way to share a gift with the audience.  It’s one action step that’s compelling and juicy, without any risk or discomfort on their part.</p>
<p>If you’re getting started, and feel overwhelmed with how-to’s and technology, just start simply with a special report (an article or short e-book) that shares your knowledge on a specific topic in your area of expertise. Really go deep, so you give real value, and they come back wanting more of you!  And audio is also great way to get started… The trick is not to complicate things too much to begin with and just get it done!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I like using the word Visibility as an alternative to Marketing. Have you noticed? It’s not that I have an aversion to ‘marketing’ because I love all the methods and strategies that help put us out there in a big way. It’s just that ‘marketing’ doesn’t quite appeal to me as much as ‘visibility’ does. It feels different doesn’t it!<br />
However because I also love clarity, I’m going to use the word marketing for this particular tip this week.<br />
When you put yourself out there you’re connecting with your ideal clients and establishing relationships with them, so that at some point they may take the step to work with you. Woohoo! That process is all ‘marketing’ – it actually encompasses perhaps a bit more the ‘visibility’.<br />
My clients will be giggling to themselves as they read this because I use this analogy all the time. It really helps make it much clearer, that there is a clear process from the moment you connect with your ideal client, through to the moment they enroll your services.<br />
Often we get very disheartened when we put ourselves out there, and for some reason the folks we’re connecting with don’t sign up with us straight away. Whether it’s at a networking group, or on a teleseminar, or when they come to our website and sign up on our email list, but don’t sign up on for our current programs or offerings. That’s why we call it Marketing, and not Sales. Sales comes further down the road of that process, unless you are serving an immediate need.<br />
So here’s the thing… Imagine the scenario: You go into a bar, and sit down at the bar…, and a gentleman sits beside (or woman) you and buys you a drink. (G&amp;T for me! <img src='http://keystoclarity.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />  ) And within 5 mins after only learning the person’s name, they turned around and asked you to marry them! Well I’m guessing that any person in their right mind, would immediately say no! Why… well it seems pretty obvious doesn’t it. You never had a chance to get to know this person. There is no trust established. You don’t know their values and desires and goals in life, or even if you have a connection or are energetically aligned in any way. You didn’t get a chance to date! There is a natural process of events… flirting, dating, engagement, marriage…(ok we’re talking traditional here, but bear with me!)</p>

It’s exactly the same when you meet your ideal client! They need to build a relationship with you, even if it’s from a distance through your email list, reading your emails and your newsletters, hearing you speak etc. It’s what we in our marketing language might refer to as the ‘know, like and trust factor’. And to build that takes time. Each time they experience something of value from you, that increases. Each individual’s needs are different. Which means the ‘dating’ process might be shorter or longer… could be a month, could be 6 months, could even be 2 years. During that time your visibility methods and strategies are constantly touching them, providing value, and when the time is right they are ready to get ‘engaged’! (and then you move into Sales, and out of Marketing)<br />
It’s easy to take their not acting on an offer personally, but really it has nothing to do with you (if you’ve got a clear message) because it just means the trust or value hasn’t been established or the need isn’t there in that moment.  Another opportunity to not get caught up in our ego, not take it personally, and know that it&#8217;s a journey.<br />
So to put it into a nutshell – your marketing is a courtship! One that requires patience, consistency and constant reaching out and adding value! As your business builds your community will grow and more and more people will be reaching out to work with you.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A common theme in our soulopreneural lives, is this ‘going like gangbusters’ (we’re 3 months into 2012 and its go, go, go!) trying to accomplish so much in a short space of time and not taking care of ourselves, or trying everything in your power to create something important but not being able to break through an unseen barrier, to do it. Both can lead to feelings of overwhelm and frustration. Can you relate?</p>
<p><a href="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/frustration.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3058" title="frustration" src="http://keystoclarity.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/frustration.jpg" alt="" width="183" height="275" /></a></p>
<p>Overwhelm is brought on by other things happening around us and our reaction to them, like: fears around money, inability to create balance between work and family, the need to know something when it just isn’t ready to reveal itself yet, frustration when things aren’t going fast enough… Gosh I can just feel how one could just work oneself up into a frenzy. I’m guilty of this too! The wonderful thing is we get to notice when this is happening… and choose something different.We can say NO to desperation and frustration, both big contributors to overwhelm and misery, and YES to peace, clarity and inspiration.</p>
<p>In the theme of ‘less is more’ (mentioned under the post Visibility: Less is More) it seems to be coming up again and again for myself and the people around me. This idea is that if we take a step back from what we want so much ironically the answers come to us with more ease and fairly quickly, if we do the opposite it creates more struggle and a longer time for the answers to emerge. I remember one of my clients wanting to have instantaneous clarity around her ideal client. This is sometimes an evolutionary process over a period of time before we know what it truly is,even if we&#8217;re in the ball park. What was interesting is that when she took a step back and allowed the intention of knowing what it was, to bubble under the surface in our subconscious &#8211; she allowed the universe to respond to that intention, and it started to do the work for her. In stepping back, in the space of allowing, and not ‘want’ or ‘need’, the energy opens up and s tarts to flow towards us with the answers we’re looking for. And that is exactly what happened with this client. It was perfection.</p>
<p>It feels counter-intuitive doesn’t it? If you want something badly, the need for it increases and increases. Doing the opposite can seem like madness!</p>
<p>Being patient for your business to evolve and grow is another big one. Often what I see is clients, wanting it all done yesterday. A sense of desperation that comes from a lack of finances, and a frustration from not being where they would like to be in the growth of their business, because it’s not happening fast enough. Give yourself permission to know that ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ (yes, I said it!), this is so true. It’s like asking a newborn baby to be a man tomorrow. There is a process, or a journey that needs to take place in order for your business to evolve. How fast you move and grow, is dependent on your ability not to get in your own way, and to take care of yourself along the way. And again sometimes stepping back and allowing those inner awareness’s to come through, helps you to do that.</p>
<p>Whatever you do… just breathe. When all else fails… just breathe.</p>
<p>And stopping beating yourself up.</p>
<p>Stepping back, allowing, trusting, having patience and self-nurturing, will all help you get to where you want to go, in a calm, clear and peaceful manner.</p>

<p>You might be familiar with it! It originates from the famous architect Mies van der Rohe. He truly believed you could be more impactful by giving less, to create more. His architecture is a fine testament to the simplicity this focus brings.</p>
<p>It applies to many things we do – to keep ourselves sane! And to make more of an impact on the people we serve. Interestingly the most impactful messages and products are the ones with an uncanny simplicity. When we overcomplicate things &#8211; our messaging in our emails, too long a video (2 to 3 minutes is best), long articles, giving way to much information in a presentation or teleclass (we want our audience to walk away with only 1 or 2 key points because that is generally all they will retain) – we actually detract from the actual message we want folks to leave with, AND the learning or action-taking capability of our potential client. We leave them overwhelmed or checked out, and ourselves depleted and disappointed.</p>
<p>So what a relief!! When you’re communicating with your community or email list, in whatever form, keep the message simple! It also means you don’t have to work so hard!!</p>
<p>I too, am constantly observing what I can do better, so my message gets delivered powerfully.</p>
<p>Keep it simple, with that quote in your mind… ‘less is more’.</p>

<p>First, I want to tell you about the MOST VIRAL VIDEO EVER!</p>
<p>Quick GOLD NUGGET: ‘What does viral mean?’ You might be asking? It means to it spread like wildfire, first through 1 person telling and sharing with 10 people, then they in turn sharing with 100 people, and then in turn with a 1000 and so on and so on (as an example). Through word of mouth, through Social Media like Facebook, Twitter and of course YouTube. Also known as syndication. And  I’m sharing with you through email and my blog!</p>
<p>To date this has been the most viewed video, in the short time it’s been available. The most ever!  Up to today there have been <strong>79,049,042</strong> <strong>views</strong>! And <strong>the video was only posted 10 days ago</strong>!</p>
<p>Ok, ‘what is the video?’, you might asking? ‘And why should I care?’ Great questions. All will be revealed. If you care about becoming visible in your soul-driven business, then watch the video and read on.</p>

<p>You might have been hearing in the news or this might have been passed on to you, like it was me.  The video is called <a href="http://www.kony2012.com">Kony 2012</a>  and tells a story of a man in  Uganda.  A man they want to make famous. So famous that it will be impossible for us not to do something about what he is doing to children.  He&#8217;s been creating an army (30 000) of invisible children, who he forces to maim and kill (including their parents ) or become sex slaves.  The world has been letting this go on.  And it&#8217;s time to put a stop to it.</p>
<p>The video in itself, is a example of brilliant marketing. Which it needs to be in order to enroll us into action.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s the thing.  There are 2 reasons why I&#8217;m sharing this with you!</p>
<p>The first is because when my 17 yr old niece insisted on my watching it, I recognized it was a cause worth getting involved in.  If I could be part of a movement that stopped mindless slaughter and enslavement of children, I&#8217;m in!   It means I also get to tithe to something worthwhile, something that inspired me.  Tithing, is part of the giving and receiving that happens in your business.  If you tithe to those things that truly inspire you, again there seems to be a universal law of reciprocity, which I talk about in my previous post.  So each time something truly inspires you or shifts your thinking &#8211; think about tithing to that organization or person.  (Tithing, is not just for churches!  It&#8217;s about showing gratitude and appreciation by donating a part of the income you&#8217;re creating to something that has made an impact on you for your highest good.)</p>
<p>The second, is because this video is brilliantly done.  It&#8217;s simply done. Sets the context in the beginning for the main story to be revealed. Creates human connection through the man and his son, and their passion to make a difference.  It brings in the story of one of the children effected by these atrocities so it makes it real, not something out there that we can&#8217;t connect to.  It shows us the impact of the atrocities, just briefly but enough to show us what&#8217;s going on and to be appalled.  And it shows us simply, how to take 3 action steps to make a difference ourselves.  Nothing over-complicated, no just sending us to a website, just 3 small specific steps.  It enrolls us in a cause or a mission, worth something.</p>
<p>Imagine, creating a video that enrolled your community into a movement.  Some of you really make a difference with the work you do.  Some of your clients experience great pain and anguish for various reasons.  Is there a cause to be had?  A movement to create?   A way to empower them, as well as yourself?</p>
<p>The use of video is proving to be one of the best visibility strategies. It engenders trust faster than any other medium, because folks can see and hear you, which helps them to relate to you.  It appeals to different learning styles, which helps your community to again &#8216;hear&#8217; your message.</p>
<p>Your videos don&#8217;t need to be on the scale of Kony 2012!  But imagine if they had even a small percentage of the impact it made.  You can enroll your community.  You can use this to build your community.  You can communicate how passionate you are about what you&#8217;re doing.  You can tell your story.  You can inspire your prospective clients to take massive action to help themselves and people like them.</p>
<p>And you might say &#8216;who am I to do this?&#8217;  I ask &#8216;Who are you not to?&#8217;    Step into Visibility, own your Power and see amazing things happen!</p>

<p>And synchronistically, my 21 yr old niece who is studying counselling and teaching at a college in Colorado, is tutoring the refugee children being brought in from Uganda and neighbouring countries, who were subjected to the regime of Kony.   There is no such thing as coincidences!</p>

<p>It’s about being a RESOURCE.  A resource means you&#8217;re willing to share information to help someone do something that they didn’t have the right resource to do it with in the first place.  This could be a <em>person</em> or a <em>program</em> or a <em>tool</em>.</p>
<p>It’s always important to be able to do this for your clients.  But we can take it up notch. It’s such an easy thing to do, and when you do it with peers or people you admire in your industry, without expecting anything in return, guess what happens?  RECIPROCITY.</p>
<p>It means a lot to people when you go out of your way to help them.  Or to provide that really important information they need in that moment.  I just did that with a colleague who needed an animation video specialist – she was super psyched.  Or in the past, I&#8217;ve connected different leaders who had been on my radio show but had not met before.  Instantly one of them got to do a presentation at a live event for the other as a result of this introduction.  They were both over the moon.  And it didn&#8217;t take much effort on my part to orchestrate this connection.</p>
<p>Now the key here is not to have an expectation of getting something done for you in return.</p>
<p>What it does do, is starts to establish a relationship with a person you admire.  This also creates credibility.  If you went out of your way for an affiliate partner who hasn’t done much for you up to this point, there is a good chance they will step up their game when you do your next launch for you.  Your willingness to be a support can make a big difference!    It shines the spotlight on you as an expert or leader in your field,  and leaves an impression that you&#8217;re  a person that they would prefer to help and do business with.  The returns can be enormous.</p>
<p>So think about what you can do to be more helpful. How you can be a resource to your community, or the leaders in it.  Keep an eye out for what your peers or leaders are asking for.  And the RECIPROCITY Angel might come knocking at your door.</p>
