20 Seconds of Insane Courage. That’s all it could take.

by Louise Crooks

I recently I watched a movie called ‘We Bought a Zoo!’  Without going into too much detail about my resistance to seeing it (caged animals etc), I gave in when my dear hubby ordered it in Netflix and it arrived in the post.

So why am I telling you about this you might be asking?

I was so inspired by this movie!  So let me give you the low down before I say anymore.

I’ve noticed how when we as soul-driven business owners explore different ways of putting ourselves out there to become visible , and doing all the things we need to do to grow our businesses so we can be successful and make a difference – STOP ourselves in the moments that MOST IMPORTANT.

I mean – in those moments when you’ve been to a networking event and you want to approach someone and you don’t.  Or you been to a networking event and you know following up with a person would be very helpful, and yet you don’t pick up that phone.  Or you know someone who would be an amazing person to joint venture or partner with on some project, and yet you don’t take the step to reach out…  THOSE MOMENTS.  You get my drift?   In those moments when we feel fear, even in the most subtlest forms when we’re unaware of our thought processes and how they make the decision for us not to act.

Believe me when I say that this is hurting you, your business AND the people you could be serving.

Ok so in this fabulous movie (make sure to see it asap if you haven’t already) there is a powerful message shared that I want to share with you.  It’s the moment when Benjamin (the gorgeous Matt Damon!) says to his son:  You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.

Here is the clip (just 47 seconds) in the movie:

There are a number of wonderful scenes in the movie when this 20 seconds of courage is carried out.

Imagine if you could apply this to your life and particularly to your business.  That could be all it takes, for amazing things to happen.  Keep asking yourself why not when you notice that you’re talking yourself out of taking action!?  Try it out, and see what happens.

And tell me what you think below! I love hearing from you.
